Top 5 Trends for Fall 2009

Hollywood Hits - Think  ‘Old Hollywood Glamour' for gals who would rather run a meeting  than a mixer. Consider luxury silks, satins and chiffons that channel swept romanticism and that nostalgic 40's look, while brushed woolen and boiled wools, vintage bouclés and stretch jersey fabrics anchor as classic wardrobe staples. Outfits get their spiff from soft printed plaids, animal patterns on sheer chiffons and smooth satins, velvet trimmed seams and buttons, and vibrant  colour blocked sweaters. Look for soft romantic pinks, tango reds and magentas along with heathered grey, black, and off white to evoke your inner glam gal.

So Plaid to Meet You -When a man comes into your life, things change. As do fabrics when the men's wear influence spikes at peak trend. Plaid fabrications run ramped through the fashion houses, in anything from subtle tweeds to loud tartans, from quiet tidy patterns to large bold plaids. And if one isn't enough to satisfy your kilty urges, designers have given the ok to mix and match these criss-cross patterns. We knew there had to be a man behind all this...

I'll Pencil You In.... We all love how a pencil skirt just seems so....sharp. Made with the curvy gals in mind (secretary or not...), pencil skirts always seem to stir up a bit of sex appeal. And rightly so. Slim, fitted and sometimes itty bitty, they've become a staple for feminine dressing.

Biker Babes - It's a no brainer. Short zippered biker jackets have cruised into town and taken up residence in every tough chick's wardrobe. The must-have accessory that goes with this look? Attitude, baby!

Printed tops -Sometimes it's abstract....sometimes it's animal, and sometimes, well, it's both! This season it's about ditching that one-print-on your-outfit rule and just seeing what goes. Printed with plaid? Yep. Combining prints on one fabrication? Why not? Not for the stuffy or authority bound, fashion rebels rejoice in print anarchy.
